MISSIONS
Luanda – Angola
Within the framework of the PLICIB Action Plan, a mission to Luanda was organised from April 7th to 11th , 2024, with the objective of presenting the Platform to political decision-makers and the Angolan scientific community, and simultaneously promoting discussions regarding Angola’s accession process to the EDCTP Association.
Taking advantage of a scientific mission by the Portuguese Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT) to the country, meetings were held with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, the National Institute of Health Research, the Vice Rector’s Office of Agostinho Neto University, the Rectorate of the Private University of Angola, and several officials from Academia BAI (where a workshop on «Microbial Evolution and Molecular Epidemiology», organised by IHMT took place).
The mission was led by Thomas Nyerenda, head of the Africa Office at the EDCTP Association.
