Mission to São Tomé e Príncipe

The PLICIB Executive Coordination organised a mission to São Tomé and Príncipe, which took place from 21 to 24 September 2025 in the city of São Tomé.

The mission aimed to present the Global Health EDCTP3 and PLICIB initiatives to the national health authorities and to discuss the possibilities for the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe to join these two programmes.

To this end, meetings were held at the Ministry of Health — notably with His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr Celso Matos — and at the National Centre for Endemics, in particular with its Director, Dr Bonifácio Sousa.

The PLICIB delegation was also received at the Embassy of Portugal in São Tomé and Príncipe, where they met with Dr Paula Pereira, Director of the Portuguese Cooperation Centre. On this occasion, the delegation presented the country’s capacity-building plans and discussed future opportunities for collaboration.
